365, 7: day 40

Los Angeles

Happy Thanksgiving! I woke up early, as I somehow can’t stop doing these days, and took a nice walk – my first real alone time in a while, and a really great start to the day. I spent basically the rest of the day cooking. I hadn’t realized I had so much to do, but it was good I started when I did. I made kale salad, Brussels sprouts and roasted potatoes, stuffing, and an amazing pumpkin pie with a gingersnap crust, and my husband made chicken with 40 cloves of garlic. We ate a delicious meal with 2/3 of my bro-in-laws, plus a friend, and we played Scatergories and it was a lovely day.

365, 7: day 39

Los Angeles

It’s my birthday, and I was really hoping work wouldn’t be as awful as it was yesterday. And it wasn’t! But I still had to stay all day with a lot of little things and it was a really lame birthday. I made myself maple ice cream to celebrate, and my husband and bro-in-law treated to tacos for dinner. I’m glad it’s over, mostly. Working on my birthday isn’t something I’ve done much, with the holiday proximity, and I want to keep it that way.

365, 7: day 38

Culver City

I cried driving to and from work today?! On the way there because it was after 9am, the sun was shining, and I could feel life slowly coming back into me. On the way home, a long, stressful day that made it clear there was no slowing down on the horizon got the best of me. But my brother-in-law came in tonight and we got late night Delicious Pizza, which was in fact delicious despite me never wanting to eat pizza again and oh well it will all be fine.

365, 7: day 37

Los Angeles

This last-minute day off wasn’t quite as restful or productive as I had hoped, but I did make maple ice cream, do multiple loads of laundry, get lots of cat QT in, and finish the day with a much-anticipated five-hour margarita session with my fave coworkers.

365, 7: day 36

Culver City

Today was the official opening and I almost cried twice! It was actually really cool to see all the people (more than 800!) and be a part of this thing. We ended the day with beers and Snapchat and giggles on the floor. And the I ended my day with more takeout Thai food, wine, and Curb Your Enthusiasm with my husband and father-in-law.

365, 7: day 35

Culver City

Morning emails made it clear that our 6pm start time today was pretty hypothetical, and I ended up going in at noon. I ran around for a few hours doing random things, mostly because I was there, and then I took a break at the mall to get nailpolish and fail to get a dress. The whole event went well, and we actually hired tons of event staff and I didn’t really have to do anything except say hi to everyone. And I thought my car was stolen or towed at the end of the night! But I was just delirious and it was a block further than I thought.

365, 7: day 34

Culver City

Today was a weird, crazy day. It seemed like it wouldn’t all get done this morning, but by the evening we had a real museum, with a beautiful gift shop and a delightful party of construction crew and intern alums.
