365, 7: day 261

Bailey’s Harbor, WI

I started the day with a run and breakfast, including much-anticipated powdered sugar donuts. We went to Peninsula State Park for a walk, a picnic lunch, a bike ride, a very slow and short bike ride, and an ice cream treat (ice cream Snickers bar for me!). We met up with cousins too briefly and then got fudge! At that point I had already ruined my dinner appetite so we went on a long walk and then I came home and ate meatball curry, drank wine, and played cards all night. Plus the stars and the moon here, with the water and the trees, are just amazing.

365, 7: day 260

Bailey’s Harbor, WI

The first real, actual day of vacation started with a lazy morning, followed by a bike ride to the farmer’s market, where there were whispers of a storm slash tornado amongst all of the vendors, so we hurried home to an afternoon indoors. We did not get a tornado, but a brief intense storm. Afterwards, my sister and I went to a grocery store and we grilled for dinner, and then we went across the peninsula, back to our childhood vacation area for the first time, for mini-golf and go-karts, and then back home for a cheddar taste test, Myers Briggs, and the waning moon over the lake.

365, 7: day 259

Bailey’s Harbor, WI

I took advantage of a hotel gym and breakfast buffet this morning before my dad picked us up and we drove to Door County, with two cheese stops on the way. We arrived shortly after 3 to meet my mom, sisters, and nephew. After some property exploration we went into town for water gazing and ice cream treats, then dinner, bonfire, and cards! Great first day of vacation!

365, 7: day 258

Rosemont, IL

Today was smooth sailing to a 6:45 flight to Chicago. And then smooth sailing after that, as we brought Sprouts sandwiches and unread much of Everything I’ve Never Told You, a perfect plane book. My dad suggested we just stay out by the airport last night, and even after waiting 40 minutes in insane humidity for the airport shuttle and then instead having to take a $20 cab 2 miles… it was worth it.

365, 7: day 257

Los Angeles

I said goodbye to my kittens this morning, after letting them run around like crazy for a bit. I was far enough with work and packing that I went to run with my friend after work, successfully completing my running goal for the month! And it was my final day of Whole 30*! And the last day before vacation. I’d been planning to hike tomorrow but I ended up awake until almost 1am, cleaning and packing and finalizing everything.

365, 7: day 256

Los Angeles

I had an unnecessarily panicky morning, leading up to an auction at work that went very smoothly. But I managed to get in a run before work, and now I only have one more to meet my goal of running four times a week in June! After work I did laundry, packed, and received a steam of visitors to say goodbye to my sweet, messy, totally nuts foster kittens, who leave tomorrow morning. As I keep doing, I stayed up way too late. Vacation is all that’s getting my through.

365, 7: day 255

Glendale, CA

I started the day with a trip to Alhambra and then the Disney archive, which was so beautiful, plus some good collections storage admiring and lunch with friends and other cool people! And then my husband’s cousins’ family is all in town, so I took the bus downtown and we got drinks at the LA Athletic Club and an amazing Indian dinner at Badmaash. We stayed out way too late but it was so fun!
