365, 6: day 299

Los Angeles

I stayed at work until almost 7 today talking to a coworker, which was annoying in the context of how much work I had to get done. I went to the gym, wandered around the grocery store, realizing how little I know about dairy when trying to buy milk and cottage cheese (?!) for my dad, and got home at 9pm. I had toast (lol like who knows) for dinner and started Angela Davis’ autobiography (finally! I’ve been trying to read it since February). Not much cleaning but there’s always tomorrow I guess.

365, 6: day 298

Los Angeles

Book club was at the most adorable apartment, and even though I basically disagreed with everything, it was still a delightful time.

365, 6: day 297

Los Angeles

One of our neighborhood cats, chilling in the morning. I spent the evening alternating between food prepping for the week and finishing my book for book club, with some cleaning in between for good measure.

365, 6: day 296

Los Angeles

Well, it wasn’t the most exciting anniversary, but it was fun to keep remembering what we had been doing a year ago all day. We had a lazy morning at my friend’s house, and she made us a delicious breakfast. The drive back to LA was easier than coming down, but still long and annoying. We stopped at Ikea to get a few things, had a small re-group break at home, and then met up with college friends in from out of town for dinner (with TWO children under the age of two). Since we had no wedding cake in the freezer to eat, we instead went and got fancy ice cream (which is also what we served for dessert at our wedding) and called it an early night. There will be lots of future years to really go all out in celebrating, hopefully, and this one was just perfect for what it was.

365, 6: day 295

San Diego

We drove down to San Diego for my friend’s birthday, leaving way too late and sitting in traffic for four hours! So by the time we got to her house, it was after 3pm. We kicked off the celebrations with cake and champagne, and we went back to the Turf Club, my favorite place, to grill our own dinner and drink sneaky tiki’s (except I just had campari and their infamous wine which is actually fine) (plus I made a beautiful snapchat filter!). We followed that up with a fancy tiki bar and turned in early, falling asleep watching Moana and eating ice cream, which I guess seems appropriate for thirty-two.

365, 6: day 294

Los Angeles

I spent the day listening to various playlists from our wedding weekend, and we grilled pizza for dinner! Which didn’t entirely work structurally but was still delicious. We drank a really good bottle of Chilean carménère and watched our wedding slideshow, since this was really our night to celebrate our anniversary. I forgot how in-depth the slideshow is: I matched the music up pretty well, integrated photos from tons of different people, and it was really fun to watch and made me glad I had put all of the time into it. Plus I can’t wait to make grilled pizza again.

365, 6: day 293

Culver City

Another long, crazy, stressful day at work full of things I don’t want to be in charge of. A year ago, we flew to Chicago to kick off wedding weekend. This was a lot less fun.
